We all love our Miami heat, and this is what makes it a hot destination for tourists and residents alike. But the 90+ degree temps and the added humidity will get you itching to find a cool place during the warmest part of the day. There’s plenty to do to keep cool when the heat is simply too much to handle. Let’s explore some local spots to cool down in Miami.
Hit The Beach
Miami beaches rank among the finest stretches of shoreline in the world. Crandon Park is a family-friendly favorite, with a two-mile stretch of beach that calls your name to cool off in Miami’s unforgiving heat. There is also a park adjacent to Crandon that offers cabana rentals, along with other fun activities like kayak rentals and an amusement center. Of course there’s South Beach, where you’ll find the picturesque turquoise waters amidst the area’s best shops, bars, and restaurants. Lummus Park Beach is the “mother of all beaches” in Miami-Dade, and the quirky charm it exudes is what makes it so popular. Hop from a swanky restaurant to the beach and back for a cool Miami afternoon.
Catch Some Live Music
The arts and culture scene in Miami is full-to-the-brim with excellent acts and a variety of entertainment shows. Discover new music, or seek out your favorites at one of the many venues around town. Check out Jennifer Lopez on July 25-27 at American Airlines Arena, or head to Bayfront Park Amphitheatre which hosts other big names year round like Young the Giant and Fitz and The Tantrums on July 20. For a more intimate venue, try the Fillmore. It gets its fair share of underground, up-and-coming, and mainstream artists.
Eat + Drink
If there’s one way to cool down, it’s sipping on an ice-cold cocktail or elixir at one of the trendiest spots in town. These are some of our favorites close to home at Yard 8.
- Monty’s Raw Bar — Coconut Grove’s waterfront raw bar where you’ll find fresh seafood and delicious cocktails to enjoy under the palms.
- Suǵar — Dine amongst the trees in this asian garden in the sky. Insider tip: the views are killer, so make sure you get there before sunset.
- Lagniappe — One of our favorites, just a half mile from your home, is this swanky wine house with charcuterie and live music nightly.
Pool Party It Up
What cools you off more than a dip in the pool? There are several hot-spots in town that keep you entertained daily with DJ’s, cocktails, and the who’s who of the Miami scene.
SLS Pool Party at Hyde Beach — The party is located at the iconic SLS South Beach Hotel and held on Sundays. This is the place to party on South Beach, and is also known as the best indoor/outdoor pool party in Miami.
South Beach Party Boat — Create your own party at sea with a party boat rental. Experience a ride out to a private tropical sandy island with food, cocktails, music, and water toys like paddle boards and trampolines.
Venetian Pool — This historic U.S. public swimming pool located in Coral Gables, Florida, is made entirely of coral rock quarry. It’s family-friendly and welcomes the littles above three.
As you can see, there is plenty to do when you’re trying to escape the Miami heat. Round up your favorites and make them a must-do this blazing hot summer.
